King of the Drills VR

King of the Drills is a VR game that I created with a small group of friends during our 3rd year of university at Abertay. The game was created as a group project and then taken down to EGS in London where we showcased the game in a stall along with other major companies.

Software used for this project:

  • Zbrush (High Poly Sculpts)

  • Maya (Retopology)

  • Substance Painter (Texturing)

  • Photoshop (Texturing)

  • Marmoset Toolbag (Shading/Rendering)

  • Unreal Engine 4 (Shading/Rendering/Animations/Gameplay/VR Interactivity)

On this project, the art team consisted of 2 artists, myself and a friend of mine. Together we created all the visuals for the game. I was in charge of the character design, sculpting, and game-ready model. The environment that you see in the video, trees, rocks, foliage, fences, other props, character weapons and abilities.

The assets were created using Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter and then all imported and shaded in Unreal Engine.

A demo of the game can be downloaded on this itch.io page:

Other games that I have also worked on for game jams can also be found on the page.
